Recap of Photonics West

If you didn’t make the trip, you missed a good one.

It’s not often that a trade show gets great reviews, but Photonics West 2014 was certainly a great event. Total attendance numbers were in excess of 21,000 people that came to see many of the 1,256 exhibitors and multiple presentations. There were a number great group events after exhibition hours such as the “Night at the Movies” which was an informal dinner including Charlie Chaplin, Darth Vader, Dorothy, and Marilyn Monroe impersonators.

While the exhibit’s attendance was high, it was nicely spaced out over the 3 day event. From our eyes, each day seemed as busy as the last. That was a great thing, as Guild Optics’ VP Corbin Breda and Sales Manager Jon Lavoie were able to speak one on one with many knowledgeable representatives from excellent companies and universities. We were able to spread the word on the benefits of sapphire optics.

Thank you to all of those who took the time to stop by booth 304 and chat with us. Guild Optical Associates has been expanding over the past 2 years to better serve our current and future customers. We have added multiple pieces of machinery and an excellent array of technicians. CNC machinery was added to allow us to offer custom shaped sapphire windows. Shaped windows are gaining in popularity for many military optical projects, and our experience in sapphire allows us to offer the best shaped windows in the industry.

Guild Optical Associates was also happy to reveal our newly acquired ISO 9001 certificate at the show. Coupled with our ITAR registration, you can be assured that Guild Optics is the premier source for custom sapphire optical components.
